Why Fiberglass?
Perhaps one of the most fundamental
decisions to make is to choose between concrete and fiberglass. There
are advantages and disadvantages associated equally with each, and
the best option for you depends on your desires. Fiberglass specifically
has a few advantages concrete doesn't have. In addition to being beautiful
and luxurious, fiberglass pools save homeowners time and money over
the life of the pool, with the major savings coming in reduced outlays
for maintenance, pool chemicals and electricity. Homeowners who choose
a fiberglass pool will save as much as 70 percent on chemicals and
30 percent on electricity costs.
Ease of Maintenance
Unlike concrete, fiberglass contains such microscopic pores that it
is considered non-porous. In this case, if algae develops in the pool,
it can grow on the fiberglass surface, but it cannot take root in
the material itself. On the other hand, a cement pool contains pores
that allow algae to grow and take root. The non-porous attribute of
fiberglass contributes to the overall ease of maintenance. To clean
a concrete surface, you may try to scrub with a wire brush or use
an acid to eat the contaminant out of the pores. With a fiberglass
surface, you simply wipe the contaminant away from the surface.

Ease of Water Chemistry Maintenance
A fiberglass container will not affect the pH of your pool water. IF you plot pH over time in a fiberglass pool, it will be flat. The only way pH is affected is by variables such as bathing load or acid rain. Over time the pH remains relatively stable. In a cement pool, however, pH fluctuates over time because of the alkalinity from the wall. It then ebbs and flows as you struggle to balance it. Since fiberglass pools more effectively maintain a balanced pH level, fewer chemicals are required. This results in numerouse benefits, including reduced chemical cost and ease of maintenance.

Skin-Friendly Surface
Moist skin gets soft and tender, and when soft skin rubs against concrete, the course material can be rough and wreak havoc on the skin. Due to their sturdy fiberglass construction, fiberglass pools never need to be resurfaced. By contrast, a typical concrete pool will require periodic resurfacing, meaning extra outlays of cash for many years to come. Amusement park slides, bathtubs, surfboards, boats and the like are all constructed of fiberglass because the material is friendly to tender skin. In this same manner, fiberglass pools are a more skin-friendly option than concrete pools.

Guarantee of Quality
Because fiberglass pools are manufactured in a quality-controlled factory, each pool must meet the standards of the producing operation. When homeowners decide upon a specific model, they can rest assured that the specific model they've chosen will arrive exactly as they want it, quality-assured.
